Get to know the Heart Behind TanMann: Meet Tanaya Thanekar

Counselling Psychologist | MSc Clinical Psychology (UK)

My name is Tanaya Thanekar, and my journey into the field of mental health began with a fundamental curiosity: why do we think, feel, and behave the way we do?

With an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Wales, I have dedicated my practice to a deeper realization: much of human suffering stems not from emotion itself, but from being alone with it. In a world that often teaches us to suppress, “manage,” or move past our feelings, I provide a professional space where you can finally sit with them.

I believe emotions are not interruptions to life—they are the very texture of it. They shape our relationships, self-esteem, and physical well-being. When emotions are left unnamed or misunderstood, they do not disappear; instead, they manifest as anxiety, exhaustion, or conflict.

My goal is to help you live more consciously and fully. I chose this profession because I believe emotional understanding is not a luxury—it is a form of dignity. No one should have to navigate their inner world without support.

Healing the Mind and Body: The Integrated Philosophy of TanMann

The name TanMann comes from the Hindi words tan (body) and man (mind), a reminder that we are whole beings whose emotional pain often manifests physically and whose mental struggles shape our movement through the world. As a Counselling Psychologist (MSc) and a Yoga Trainer, I believe true healing honors both; therapy is not about “fixing” someone, but about providing a safe, professional space for holistic mental health where you can be yourself without pretense. In this space, where mind-body wellness is prioritized, clarity emerges, patterns shift, and old wounds heal—not through force, but through safety. My role is to listen deeply and integrate somatic wisdom with psychological insight, trusting your inner wisdom as we explore difficult emotions together to find a conscious, dignified way forward.
