About Tanaya

I am a Counselling Psychologist with an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Wales, UK.
My path into psychology began with curiosity — a desire to understand why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. But as I listened to more stories, I realised something deeper: much of human suffering does not come from emotion itself, but from being alone with it. We are often taught to manage emotions, control them, suppress them, or move past them. Rarely are we taught to sit with them, understand them, or ask what they are trying to communicate. Over time, I have come to believe that emotions are not interruptions to life — they are the very texture of it. They shape how we love, how we trust, how we defend ourselves, how we strive, and how we withdraw. They influence our bodies, our ambitions, our relationships, and the quiet narratives we carry about who we are. When emotions are misunderstood or left unnamed, they do not disappear. They find other ways to speak — through tension, conflict, self-doubt, exhaustion, or distance. To understand our emotional world is not simply to feel better; it is to live more consciously and more fully. I chose this profession because I believe emotional understanding is not a luxury. It is a form of dignity. And no one should have to navigate their inner world without support.

The Philosophy Behind TanMann

The name “TanMann” comes from the Hindi words tan (body) and man (mind) — a reminder that we are whole beings. Emotional pain often shows up in our bodies, and mental struggles shape how we move through the world. True healing honors both. I believe therapy isn’t about “fixing” someone — it’s about creating a space where you can be yourself, without pretense or pressure. In that space, clarity begins to emerge. Patterns shift. Old wounds slowly start to heal. Growth happens not because it is forced, but because it finally feels safe. My role isn’t to have all the answers. It is to listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and hold space for whatever arises. I trust that you carry your own inner wisdom. Together, we can explore what feels difficult and gently find a way forward.

How I Work

First Session

We’ll start by getting to know each other. You’ll share what brought you here, and I’ll explain how we can work together. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out — we’ll take it one step at a time.

Ongoing Sessions

Each session is 50-60 minutes. We’ll explore your feelings, patterns, and experiences through conversation, reflection, and sometimes exercises like journaling or mindfulness. The pace is always yours.

My Approach

I blend different therapeutic methods based on what you need — talk therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed techniques. Therapy should feel like it’s truly for you, not a checklist

Let’s Start a Conversation
